The Dubai Marathon is the city's oldest mass-participation race and the one with the fastest field. The 26th edition is on Sunday 17 January 2027.
The three distances
The marathon, a 10 km road race and a 4 km fun run, all on the same morning. Registration for all three is open on dubaimarathon.org, and the shorter distances are the ones that fill.
For Riviera
The race does not pass MBR City, but a Sunday-morning marathon closes roads across the Jumeirah side of the city from before dawn, and the ripple reaches Al Khail Road. Anyone driving to the airport that morning leaves earlier than usual.
The season around it
The marathon sits in the middle of the city's running winter: the Dubai Run on Sheikh Zayed Road in November is the mass event, the marathon in January is the race.
The 10 km is the distance to enter if you live here and run a little. It starts with the marathon field, on a flat course, in January air that is the best the city gives a runner all year; the full distance in Dubai is for people who have trained through a summer that makes training hard. Register early for the shorter races, which cap, and book nothing on the Jumeirah side for that morning.
